Bellview wins 3,000 grant

Bellview Middle School was recently awarded a Literacy Grant in the amount of $3,000 from the Dollar General Corporation.

The purpose of this grant is to create “Camp Read S’more” for Bellview Middle School students.  Camp Read S’more was designed to create a virtual book club to encourage, promote and spark a fire for reading in the students at Bellview Middle School. This unique camp not only caters to the book club aspect, but is also designed to promote STEM activities to go hand-in-hand with the virtual book club book.

“We are so grateful and proud to receive this generous grant from Dollar General,” stated Bellview Middle School Principal Melia Adams.  “Camp Read S’more will provide our students with the opportunity to grow reading skills while experiencing fun and engaging STEM activities.  Everyone wins!”

The Dollar General Grant also provided the Bellview Middle School  library with a variety of age-appropriate books to get students engaged in reading. The outcome of this grant will be to increase motivation for reading and create lifelong readers throughout the Bellview Middle community.
